The 12th annual Open Education Week (OE Week) (4-8 March 2024) starts next week. This is a week to raise awareness and highlight Open Education, which includes open educational resources, open pedagogy/practices, and open research practices. It’s a chance to learn more about open educational and be inspired by the work that is being developed. This is an international event, so there are lots of webinars and workshops available online; there are also some events that we are holding here at TRU.
This year, TRU’s OE Week activities by the TRU Library are in collaboration with the new TRU Open Press and TRU’s Open Education Working Group (OEWG).
TRU is also part of the planning of the Open Education Talks with the University of Alberta and the University of Calgary. These short talks will be every Wednesday from 11-12:30 Pacific Time for the month of March.
Monday, 4 March
- 10-11:30am: Open Press Information Table at Student Street
- 11am-12pm: Planes, trains, and generative AI: Recentering open education values in new technology adoption (Zoom)
- Featuring Autumn Caines and TRU’s Brenna Clarke Gray
- Organized by the BC Open Education Librarians (BCOEL), and sponsored by BCcampus, with additional support from Kwantlen Polytechnic University, Langara College, and University Canada West

- 10am-2pm: Open Education Pep Rally @ CAC, Mountain Room
- Free refreshments!
- 11-12:30: Live screening of Open Education Talks and follow up in person group discussion
- Note: One of the featured speakers is TRU’s own Natasha Ramroop Singh
- 1-1:30: Open Press Presentation (hybrid- Teams and CAC Mountain Room)
- 11-12:30pm: Open Education Talks: Open Education in STEM (Zoom – free registration required)
The Open Education Talks will be held online via Zoom every Wednesday for the Month of March:
- March 13, 2024: Course Design and Open Learning Design
