Tania has been TRU’s interim university librarian since June 2021, having joined the university as our inaugural associate university librarian in May 2020. She has more than 30 years’ experience working in academic libraries in Canada and the United States. Previous to TRU, she was most recently the head of the Sciences and Technology Libraries at the University of Manitoba.
Tania has a Master of Business Administration from Athabasca University, a Master of Science in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois, and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Alberta. She currently serves many roles for a variety of councils and networks, including vice chair for the steering committee of the BC Electronic Library Network and a working group member for the impact committee of the Canadian Association of Research Libraries.
As university librarian, Tania is the chief academic and administrative officer of the library, and she leads the library’s vision, development of the collection, integration of information literacy into curriculum and operational planning.
“I am proud to congratulate Tania on her appointment,” said President Brett Fairbairn. “She brings invaluable expertise, knowledge and leadership to this role, and her dedication to library science has been a great strength for TRU.”
