Third Iron is part of TRU Library’s suite of library technologies designed to improve the research experience by making it easier to discover and access scholarly articles and journals. The suite includes BrowZine, LibKey Nomad and LibKey.io, and it also integrates with our Discovery search engine.
LibKey Nomad
LibKey Nomad is a browser extension that automatically connects you to TRU Library’s full-text holdings when you search on sites outside the library. This includes platforms like PubMed, Google Scholar and academic publishers’ websites. The extension reduces barriers by showing you one‑click access to available PDFs or helping you request items the library does not hold.

BrowZine
BrowZine is a journal platform that helps you browse, read and keep up with your favourite scholarly journals that the TRU Library subscribes to. It offers a simple, visual way to explore subject areas, follow new issues and save articles to read later.
LibKey.io
LibKey.io is a straightforward search tool that retrieves full-text access when you search using a DOI or PMID. It is also built directly into BrowZine. When an article is not available through the library, LibKey.io provides an easy link to request it through interlibrary loan.
LibKey Integrations
LibKey Link and the Discovery integrations within Discover Search streamline the process of getting to full text. These tools identify when TRU Library has access to an article and pull up the most direct link, saving you time and reducing the need to click through multiple pages.
