Looking for ways to support your students? The library offers research help, course reserves, workshops, study spaces, and more. Help your students start the semester strong by reminding them of the library resources and services available to support their learning. Here are a few highlights you can share in your classes or course materials:

Research Help

Students can book in-person or online one-on-one appointments with librarians for help with finding sources, citing properly, more in-depth research, and navigating databases. Drop-in assistance is also available at the Research Help Desk on the third floor of House of Learning and the Information Desk at Williams Lake Library. Students can also connect with us via email or our reference chat service, AskAway.

Course Readings

Make sure your students know about course readings, also known as reserves. Required readings and textbooks placed on reserve by instructors are available for short-term loan, making access easier and more affordable. Print materials are located across from the Research Help Desk in HOL, and students can search for online course readings using the search on our website or the button below.

Workshops and Tutorials

The library offers workshops on topics like academic writing, citation styles, and using research tools effectively. Makerspace also hosts events and drop-ins to learn about different technologies through hands-on experimentation. Online research and tutorial guides are available for self-paced learning and help outside of library hours.

Study Spaces

From quiet zones to collaborative areas, the library has spaces for every study style. Students can book group study rooms online and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Interlibrary Loan

Students can borrow books, articles, and other materials from libraries across Canada at no cost. It’s an excellent way to access specialized resources for research. Requests are easy to make online through the library website. When searching TRU Library’s resources, if an item isn’t available, students will see the “Request via Interlibrary Loan” link. Clicking it will automatically import the citation details into the request form, so they can submit your request quickly and accurately.

Technology and Equipment

Students can borrow laptops and other equipment from the library and Makerspace. Printing, scanning, and photocopying services are also available at all our campus library locations.
