At Thompson Rivers University Library, we’re committed to supporting faculty in their teaching, research, and scholarly communication. Whether you’re designing a new course, conducting research, or publishing your work, our team is here to help. Here are some of the core services available to faculty.
Collections
Our collections are built to support TRU’s diverse academic programs and research interests. Faculty can recommend materials for purchase, including books, journals, streaming media, and databases. We also provide access to thousands of electronic resources, including subject-specific collections and interdisciplinary tools. If you’re looking for something we don’t currently hold, we’ll help you find it through interlibrary loan or explore acquisition options.
Course Readings
Make essential readings easily accessible to your students by placing materials on reserve. We offer both physical and electronic reserves, ensuring students can access textbooks, articles, and media directly through Moodle or in the library. Course readings are searchable online for easy access. Faculty can submit reserve requests online or contact our staff for assistance.
Library Instruction
Our librarians collaborate with faculty to deliver tailored instruction sessions that build students’ research and information literacy skills. We offer:
- In-class or online workshops
- Custom research guides
- Research assignment assistance
- And more!
Let us know your learning outcomes, and we’ll design a session that complements your curriculum. Book early to ensure a librarian is available for your preferred dates and times!
Research Help and Scholarly Communication
Whether you’re starting a new project or navigating complex databases, our subject librarians provide expert research support. Services include:
- Guidance with conducting systematic and literature reviews and database searching
- Citation management tools (e.g., Zotero, Mendeley)
- Research tools including LibKey Nomad, BrowZine, Covidence, and more!
TRU Library supports faculty throughout the publishing process. We offer guidance on:
- Open access publishing and funding options
- Copyright and author rights
- Research impact metrics
- Depositing work in TRUSpace, our institutional repository
- Research data management
