Welcome new and returning students! The winter semester starts today, and with that, the Library returns to regular hours. If you are new to TRU, we understand that you may not know about all of the services and resources the Library has to offer. Please come by the Main Library or House of Learning Library (3rd floor), Law Library or Williams Lake Library and we would be more than happy to show you how to efficiently utilize our services and resources to ensure success in your studies.
What are some of the things the Library has to offer, you ask? To start, we have comfortable, warm study spaces; both individual (powered study pods in HOL) or large tables for groups. We have equipped group study rooms with TV’s and whiteboards that you can book online on our website in advance, we do laptop lending, and boast a large and ever-growing collection of online and physical resources for your research needs. Book 1 on 1 appointments with your personal subject Librarian to help you learn how to access the specific resources you need for your research project, and you can even chat online with Library personnel using our Askaway button on our home page. Our Librarians put on frequent instructional workshops to assist you with referencing, citations, and more. We have printers, photocopiers, and document prep stations including 3 digital scanners that also have language translation. The Library partners with other departments like the Writing Centre to put on special events (WITH SNACKS!) to help with research and writing so you can gain headway on your cumbersome assignments. You may even find the textbook you need on reserve in our self-checkout area (currently some courses only). We also have a ‘Pop-Up Library’ in the TRU Residences which alternate on Mondays from 5pm to 7pm (Starting January 20th). The Library has some exciting new things coming this year, so stay tuned, you don’t want to miss out. Follow us on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter (@TRULibrary) to find information such as hours changes, events updates (Like Pop-Up Library dates), giveaways, new books/media available, Library news, and so much more! We wish you all success in your studies through the semester!
