Brown Family House of Learning Library Services Announcement

  Posted on: February 21, 2017

As of Sunday February 26th, the Brown Family House of Learning (HL) library will be reducing its staffed service points as we move incrementally towards consolidating our staff and services to the Main Library .

The following changes will come into effect that may impact Library client access to collections and services :

  • COURSE RESERVES are now housed ONLY at Main Library

All Reserves material, including Science and Nursing, is now available to students at the Main Library. Library records have been updated to reflect this, for students searching for the material.  There is no change to how course Instructors request reserve items. You still use the form  posted on our website. By moving the location of the Reserves collection, we are ensuring that students have the same hours of access to this material as they’ve always had, and equal access to material for all programs.

  • HL Library CIRCULATION AND REFERENCE DESKS as well as ACCESS TO COLLECTION HOURS will be reduced to an 8 am – 5 pm Monday to Friday schedule.
Access to HL print collection after hours will be made available through the library catalogue and Main Library service desks. Main Library service desks will continue to provide circulation and research assistance services to the campus in the evenings and on weekends.

  • With recent renovations to HL to ensure a secured collection after staffed hours, STUDY SPACE availability to Library clients on the 3rd floor HL will be increased to all building opening hours, from 7am until 12 midnight.

Any questions you may have can be directed to your Liaison Librarian if applicable or to either Peggy Lunn, Library Manager or to Brenda Mathenia, University Librarian.
